Overseas talent out to impress in STK600
The 19-year-old American Joey Pascaralla is the 2010 Supersport West Coast champion and has been racing in the Italian CIV Championship Superstock class this year. He has notched up one pole at Mugello, coupled with a podium at Misano, and has been riding a Yamaha until now, but this weekend he will be on a Honda CBR for his existing Elle2 Ciatti team. Pascarella will be making his second appearance in Superstock 600, having finished eighth at Misano in June.
Medellin-born Stefano Mesa is a Colombian rider who has just turned 17, and has been racing in the AMA Supersport class for the last couple of years. After amazing everyone by coming close to the win with a Ducati 848 EVO in race 1 of this year's Daytona Supersport event, he then switched to the Vesrah Suzuki team in the last few rounds of the AMA series. Mesa will be making his European Superstock 600 debut this weekend on a R6 Yamaha, the first Colombian to race in the championship.
